Web Wednesday! - October 19th 6:30-9pm. We meet this month at the THE PUMP ROOM in Clarke Quay!
Everyone likes to travel, but in this deal-driven and social media infused world, there is lots of confusion about travel choices and brands. How does one cut through the clutter to get mindshare and influence with the travel consumer and influence their travel choices?
This month, Don Anderson, the Director of Sales and Marketing at CNNGo joins us to speak on “Building a Successful Social Travel Brand”.
In addition to providing an overview of CNNGo’s operations and content strategy, Don will explore the initiatives of CNNGo to establish itself as a socially relevant, conversational travel brand online, and the current situation and new opportunities facing the travel industry across digital streams (online, mobile, social), new business models (eg. deals) and the impact of social media.
CNNGo recently partnered with Twangoo.com, a Hong Kong-based group-buying website, to offer premium travel and lifestyle activity deals, while continuing to review new opportunities for diversifying its content-services mix for its loyal followers.
Don has more than 19 years experience in media, the last 10 of which have involved product development and promotion of online and mobile platforms, online advertising communications and consumer marketing initiatives. This has included overseeing projects for Intel, Prudential Corporation, Canon, Hewlett-Packard, Singapore Airlines, Sony, Mattel and PCCW, among others.
Prior to joining CNNGo as director of sales and marketing, Don served as Senior Business Manager for Turner Entertainment Interactive, during which time online advertising sales revenues for its Cartoon network properties experienced phenomenal growth. In his current role at CNNGo, Don is responsible for spearheading all social media, SEM and SEO strategies and campaigns, while overseeing advertising sales initiatives of CNN’s online travel lifestyle news property.
Don is a journalism graduate from Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada, holds a certificate in digital media from the Canadian Film Centre Media Lab, and MBA from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management.
